    The annual visit to a veterinarian or when buying a bird is a key step in the adoption process. During consultation , the terms of the acquisition can be verified, the maintenance conditions checked, including the organisation of the cage and the food provided, and methods to prevent behavioural disorders associated with a hypostimulant environment. Clinical examination provides an initial and must be supplemented by ancillary tests: blood and swabs samples for the detection of certain diseases, faecal analysis for the evaluatiion of the intestinal flora or radiographs.

    La visite annuelle chez un vétérinaire ou lors de l'achat d'un oiseau est une étape clé dans le processus d'adoption. Elle permet d'aborder les modalités de l'acquisisiton, de vérifier les conditions de maintenance, avec notamment l'organisation de la cage et l'alimentation donnée, et de prévenir les troubles comportementaux liés à un environnement hypostimulant. L'examen clinique forunit un premier aperçu de l'état de sante de l'animal et doit être complété par des examens complémentaires: prise de sang et écouvillons pour le dépistage de certaines affections, analyse de selles pour une évaluation de la flore digestive ou encore des clichés radiographiques.
