Resumen de Sulla biografia vasariana di Taddeo Zuccaro
On Vasari's biography of Taddeo Zuccaro.
An analysis of the sources used by Giorgio Vasari in writing his biography of Taddeo Zuccari and of the context in which it was prepared prior to the Giunti edition of the "Vite" (1568) has resulted in the need for certain details of the painter's activity to be clarified -mainly in terms of chronology. The verification in question suggests the need to integrate and rectify Vasari's reconstruction particularly as regards Zuccari's experiences in Rome in the 1540s and '50s. Compared to the traditional interpretation a slight though significantly earlier date is proposed for the journey to Verona made by the artist in the Duke of Urbino's retinue.
