Se estudiaron 22 biopsias de Hiperplasia Epitelial Focal (tomadas de escolares del municipio de Chimalhuacán) con el propósito de correlacionar los hallazgos histológicos y de ultraestructura con su posible etiología viral.

Twenty-two cases of focal epithelial hype rplasia were studied. Histology and ultrastructural features, as viral evidence of the disease are discussed. Microscopical studies disclosed the typical features of the condition: the epithelial hyperplasia and cells with vacuolated cytoplasm. The epithelial cells showed some kind of degenerative changes. The nuclear cell proliferating factor (PC10)shows the epithelium’s hype rplastic activity Electron microscopicobservation of the samples revealed significant variation in nuclear morphology, as well as in a nuclear membrane. The cytoplasm shows an increase in the tonofilamentes and endoplasmic reticulum,as well as B glycogen granules in the perinuclear cytoplasm.Electrondense and electronlucence vacuoles were seen in the nucleus and the cytoplasm.
