The correct application of the null models in ecologicalstudies is important since through of them we are able to know if random determines or influences the observed patterns, time and/or space. A proposal to make the construction of the models more rapid and reliable is also undertaken. A case study (predation between a fish and its preys) is analyzed. By applying the null model it is found that random does not influence or determine the observed pattern and that this probably responds to any ecological mechanism.
