    El concepto del tiempo es muy importante en las ciencias naturales, especialmente en la Física. Entenderlo es muycomplejo ya que involucra una serie deproblemas que requieren de un análisis particular. Por ejemplo, definir la objetividad del tiempo, su dirección y métrica, elconcepto de “simultaneidad’’, entre otros. En este trabajo veremos que el concepto de ladirección del tiempo (flecha del tiempo) no es posible plantearlo sin recurrir a la relación causa-efecto en el proceso irreversible de laevolución de la naturaleza y que el espacio-tiempo es una forma fundamental de la existencia de la materia.

    The concept of time is highly important in the natural sciences, particularly in physics. The problem is very intricate as it involves a series of problems, each of them demanding a particular study. Among them, one faces the definition of the objectivity of time, its direction and metrics, the definition of the ´simultaneityª, and so on. In this paper, we show that the concept of time direction, the so called ëarrow of timeí, cannot be discussed without taking into account the cause-effect relationship in the framework of an irreversible evolution of nature and stating that space-time is a fundamental form of the existence of matter.
