    Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar, por meio da iluminura “A morte do Usurário e do Mendigo” de Gautier de Coincy (1177-1236), a construção da imagem do usurário na Alta Idade Média. Pretendo problematizar essa representação destacando os elementos que compõem a figura publicada na obra de Tamara Voronova e Andréi Sterligov e intitulada Manuscrits enluminés ocidentaux VIII-XVI siècles à la Bibliotèque nationale de Russie de Saint-Pétersbourg.Palavras-chave: Idade Média; imagem; morte; usurário.

    This article aims to analyze, through the illumination "The death of the usurer and the beggar" of Gautier de Coincy (1177-1236), the construction of the image of the usurer in High Middle Ages.
