    En la novela autobiográfica de Albert Vigoleis Thelen Die Insel des zweiten Gesichts (1953), traducida como La isla del segundo rostro, los judíos y antifascistas exiliados de Alemania coinciden en la Mallorca de inicios de la Guerra Civil con los turistas de la organización nazi ‚Kraft-durch- Freude‘. En este artículo quiero llamar la atención sobre la relación textual y contextual que se establece a partir de la novela entre exilio y turismo, a la luz de la comparación entre las guías y relaciones de viaje de los años 30 y 60 con las „memorias aplicadas“ del propio Thelen.

    In Albert Vigoleis Thelens autobiographischem Roman Die Insel des zweiten Gesichts (1953) kreuzen sich die Wege der jüdischen und antifaschistischen Exilanten mit denen der ‚Kraft-durch- Freude‘-Touristen auf Mallorca vor Beginn des Spanischen Bürgerkriegs. In meinem Aufsatz möchte ich aufzeigen, wie sich das Exil und der Tourismus innerhalb und außerhalb des Textes zueinander verhalten, indem ich anhand von Archivfunden erstmalig Reisebeschreibungen aus den 1930er bis 1960er Jahren mit Thelens ‚angewandten Erinnerungen‘ vergleiche.

    In Albert Vigoleis Thelen’s autobiographical novel The Island of Second Sight (1953) the paths of the Jewish and antifascist expatriates and the ‚Strength through Joy‘ tourists are crossing in Mallorca right before the Spanish Civil War. In my article I intend to demonstrate how exile and tourism are related to each other in the text and beyond it, by comparing for the first time selected travel descriptions of the 1930s till 1960s with Thelen’s ‚Applied Recollections‘.
