Resumen de The Perception of Refresher Course in Driver’s View in the City of Curitiba

Maria Sara de Lima Dias

  • The research aimed to understand the vision of drivers of the transit system from a historical approach to social psychology. Through qualitative and quantitative research with 118 participants drivers who took the course offered by DMV-PR responded to a questionnaire. 75% were men between 22 and 20 years, 70% report that the classes have validity and 30% perceive that the course despite being punitive contributed to a new way of driving, 74% attended the course by the sum of points and still remained the same while attending driving. The qualitative analysis asserts contradictions in the narratives of the categories: the perception of time as punishment, time and forgetting factor and the course as a reminder; awareness and lack of awareness of the social role of the driver and the perception of learning from the refresher course . The courses take effect on the action of driving, however are transient because the vast majority are relapsing. In this context it is essential that public policies to invest in the education of traffic which reflects one of the premises of the socio-historical approach regarding the modification of the people through the acquisition of new significations about their daily practices.
