    It was long believed that Baron Louis never wrote any papers. But now, the National Library of France (BnF) has credited him with a work dating from 1814, written under cover of anonymity, entitled "Opinion of a creditor of the State on the budget, and on the observations and ref/ections upon his person, addressed to the creditors of the State ".

    This work provides a fuller, even demystified, interpretation of a key player in the history of French public finance.

    Il fut longtemps considéré que le baron Louis n'avait jamais rédigé aucun écrit. Aujourd'hui, la Bibliotheque nationale lui reconnait la paternité d'un ouvrage paru en 1814, écrit sous le couvert de l'anonymat, dénommé « Opinion d'un créancier de I'État sur le budget, et sur les observations et réflexions dont il a été l'objet, adressée aux créanciers de I'État ». Cet ouvrage offre une interprétation plus complete, sinon démystifiée, d'un acteur central de I'Histoire des finances publiques francaises.
