  • It is recognized that a need exists to move from the passive learning styles that have characterized chemistry courses to an active style in which students participate and assume responsibility for their learning. In addition, it is argued that course reform should be linked to authentic student achievement, so that students can actively experience the feelings of practicing professionals.
