    En este artículo, reflexionamos sobre la presencia del cuerpo en el fotoperiodismo de guerra occidental. A nuestro parecer, el cuerpo es construido por los diferentes discursos que tratan sobre él. La fotografía ha adquirido una importancia vital en nuestra sociedad y ésta se ha fijado, desde su invención, en el cuerpo humano. Por tanto, este arte visual se erige como un discurso sobre el cuerpo que mediatiza nuestra forma de entenderlo.

    Además, la prensa obtuvo en la fotografía un medio para contar la realidad de forma más objetiva. Puesto que las guerras siempre han sido un hecho noticioso, la fotografía pronto trataría de retratarla dando lugar a un nuevo género periodístico: el fotoperiodismo. No obstante, la forma de retratar los cuerpos en el fotoperiodismo de guerra no es aséptica, ya que también está marcada por viejas prácticas colonialistas.

    In this paper, we reflect on the presence of the body in Western war photojournalism. In our opinion, the body is constructed by the different discourses that discuss about it.

    Photography is very important in our society and, since its invention, it has focused on the human body. Therefore, this visual art is a discourse of the body that mediates the way that we understand it. Moreover, the press obtained in photography a way to tell the reality more objectively. Since wars have always been news, photography try to portray them leading to a new genre of journalism: photojournalism. However, the portrait of bodies in war photojournalism is not aseptic, because it is also marked by old colonialist practices.
