  • Resumen
    • The main objective of this laboratory is the chemical characterization of carbon materials, mainly activated carbons and activated carbon fibers, using several methods to obtain the information without using expensive instruments. During this project students determine the potential of zero charge (pzc) by mass titrations and quantify the acidic and basic sites by acid–base titrations. This lab can be useful in specific disciplines about carbon materials, where the methods are an important part for the chemical characterization of the materials, and in general chemistry disciplines, where the application of basic acid–base concepts and titrations are applied to novel materials.
