This paper sets the scene by looking briefl y at the failure of some historical repair methods in English cathedrals.
It then reviews the repairs that have been carried out on a number of cathedrals in the 20th century, using concrete as a major constituent. Finally, based on our current knowledge of concrete and its reinforcement, the paper assesses the future of these repairs.
