Resumen de El monument als caiguts de Guardamar del Segura

  En aquest article s’estudia la creu als caiguts de Guardamar i es presenta una apreciació historicoartística sobre els monuments als caiguts en la Guerra Civil, erigits en la postguerra. En primer lloc, s’ofereix una exposició del signifi cat dels monuments públics com a instruments de propaganda i senyal de poder dels governs. Després, el treball se centra en el cas concret de les circumstàncies que envoltaren la construcció de la creu als caiguts de Guardamar, i s’hi aporten noves dades, algunes de fonts orals. També s’assenyalen fonts documentals que ajuden a situar-ne la construcció en el context històric i social. Finalment, l’autor advoca raonadament per la conservació d’aquest i altres monuments semblants, perquè, desproveint-los de la càrrega ideològica i sectària que els originà, siguen record de l’enfrontament fratricida que tingué lloc i que no hauria de tornar a produir-se.

  In this article, we study the cross to the fallen of Guardamar and it is given an historical and artistic appreciation about the monuments to the fallen in the Civil War, erected during the postwar period. Firstly, an exposition of the meaning of the public monuments as instruments of propaganda and signals of governmental power is provided. Then, the paper focuses on the specifi c case of the circumstances surrounding the construction of the cross to the fallen of Guardamar, providing new data, some of them from oral sources. Moreover, some documentary sources are indicated that help to place it in the historical and social context. Finally, the author advocates with reasons for the conservation of this cross and other similar monuments, because, depriving them of the ideological and sectarian meaning that originated them, they are a memory of the fratricidal confrontation that took place and that should not occur again.
