Chemistry requires thinking. Teaching chemistry requires ceaselessly stimulating students to think. Disadvantaged contexts may correspond to extreme scenarios, magnifying the challenges of the “education to think” component of chemical education. Having 13 years of experience at teaching general chemistry and physical chemistry in a disadvantaged context provides extensive contacts with these challenges. This text spotlights crucial aspects and discusses ensuing inferences.
