  • Resumen
    • A procedure, with accompanying program for the least-squares fitting of kinetic data to the equation for consecutive first-order processes is described. The program has been tested in experimental systems with up to four rate constants. Required input is the value of a physical property, such as absorbance, as a function of time and initial estimates of rate constants and pre-exponential factors for the rate equation. Output includes the least squares estimates of these parameters and statistical data concerning error limits for these parameters and the goodness of the fit. Procedures for choosing data points and making initial estimates are described. Possible problems and procedures for avoiding or surmounting them are also considered.
