We present the details of an overhead projector demonstration to show the concentration dependence of reaction rates. Common household bleach is used to react with green food coloring. The green food coloring is a mixture of blue and yellow food colorings. The bleach reacts rapidly with the yellow food coloring, turning the solution from green to blue in a matter of seconds. The bleach concentration can be varied to demonstrate concentration effects, or it can be added dropwise to the edge of a petri dish to demonstrate diffusion effects.
