Resumen de Epifania politica del Theodosianus: La pubblicazione romana del Codex

Elio Dovere

  • The roman publication (promulgation) of the Theodosian Code on Christmas day of the year 438 was a deliberate political choice: in this way it was going to end, in a very significant day for the Christian empire, the ten-year plan for the legal stabilization which started in 429 with the law in CTh. 1, 1, 5. The careful and meticulous exegesis of Gesta senatus Romani de Theodosiano publicando and a series of historical and political reflections confirm the truthfulness of the date of December the 25th attested by Codex Ambrosianus C 29 inf., the medieval manuscript that contains Gesta and Codex, and clarifies Theodoses important political and legislative motivations.
