Resumen de Sobre la letra þ en el alfabeto griego

Este trabajo revisa las diferentes teorías sobre el origen del grafema þ con valor silbante en el alfabeto griego utilizado por la dinastía kushán en los territorios de la Bactria helenística a partir del siglo I d. C., alfabeto que notó la lengua bactriana. Basándose en testimonios epigráfi cos y numismáticos, se concluye que probablemente su origen se halla en la modifi cación de la letra griega rho.

This paper reviews different theories about the origin of the grapheme þ with sibilant value in the Greek alphabet as used by the Kushan power in Hellenistic Bactria (from the fi rst century BC), to note the Bactrian language.
With epigraphic and numismatic evidences, it is concluded that probably its origin lies in the modifi cation of the Greek letter rho.
