The application of the concept of dismutation in aqueous nonredox processes is discussed as well as its relationship to the corresponding chemical species distribution diagrams and predominance-zone diagrams for two-component systems. Examples discussed include the following systems: Cu(II)-NH3, H+-phosphates, Ag(I)-NH3, Zn(II)-NH3, Mn(II)-oxalates, and Fe(II)-o-phen. In addition, Charlot's scale for the prediction of reactions is explained together with his convention for the scale for predicting reactions as applied to the construction of predominance-zone diagrams.
