Vladimir Karpenko

  • The deposition of copper from its solutions on iron surfaces was a reaction known already to ancients. Although occasionally used for metallurgical purposes, this process was till the end of the 17th century taken for the transmutation of iron into copper. The explanation of its nature was given by R. Boyle in 1675, when the previous attempt by A. Sala from 1618 remained unnoticed.
