  • Anna Comnena 15.7.8 says that Alexander founded "Lysimacheia in Ethiopia." Aithiopia should be emended to Aetolia; Lysimacheia in Aetolia was founded in the 280s under the auspices of Lysimachus. Anna's statement about Alexander, though mistaken, can nevertheless suggest that Lysimachus' agent in the foundation may have been his son Alexander, whom Anna or her source confused with Alexander the Great.
