  • Resumen
    • Philibert De l'Orme and the Antique and Modern Architecture of the Kingdom of Naples.

The literature of art history has for many years taken an interest in the trip to Italy that Philibert De l'Orme took in the beginning of his career as architect, above all focusing on his stay in Rome. This article identifies, for the first time, two Neapolitan architectures, which had remained buried among the illustrations of his treatises: an edifice of Antique baths situated in the village of Tripergole, near Pozzuoli; and the kitchens of the Aragonese villa in Poggioreale located on the eastern periphery of Naples. While the possibility that Philibert ventured south of Rome remains an open question for the moment, new perspectives open up concerning the Roman relations which would have allowed him to gain knowledge of Neapolitan architecture and, who knows, would have encouraged him to see it with his own eyes by undertaking a voyage to Southern Italy.
