Fetes, "Massacres" and columns: Antoine Caron and the Architecture of this time.
The architectural backgrounds represented in Antoine Caron's "Histoire de la Royne Arthémise" and "Histoire Françoyse" and clearly inspired by the contemporary models of Sebastiano Serlio, as well as the actual architecture of Philibert De l'Orme and Pierre Lescot. Nevertheless they not only contributed to raising the style of these graphic narrations to the highest level, that of the epic, but they also enter into the context of the quest for a specifically French art of building, consecrating the particular practices of the reigns of the last members of the Valois dynasty.
