    La globalización y la creciente importancia de la sociedad del conocimiento son, hoy día, factores primordiales en el contexto mundial de la educación superior. Su impacto en las instituciones de educación superior es tal que las ha forzado a cambiar su rumbo, para determinar sus oportunidades y amenazas. Como consecuencia, el presente ensayo plantea la discusión actual sobre las tendencias mundiales que afectan la educación superior y sus efectos en el direccionamiento de las instituciones de educación superior colombianas.

    The globalization and the increasing importance of the society of the knowledge are, nowadays, priority factors in the world-wide context of the superior education. Its impact in the institutions of Superior Education is so that it has forced them to change their course to determinate his opportunities and threats. Consequently, the present essay raises the present discussion on the world-wide tendencies that affect the superior education and the effects in the address of Colombian superior educations institutions.
