La angustia por el paso del tiempo y la vejez: la escritura como terapia en la poesía de Constantinos Cavafis y de Jaime Gil de Biedma

    El poeta griego Constantinos Cavafis (1863-1933) y el español Jaime Gil de Biedma (1929-1990) intentan conjurar el inexorable fluir del tiempo y la desolación por la decadencia física que acarrea (el desgarro de las arrugas, como se ha dicho) por medio de su arte, por medio de la poesía. el procedimiento es el siguiente: la experiencia placentera del pasado resucita por la memoria en el presente. Y ese recuerdo, gracias al papel fundamental que desempeña la imaginación (gr. fantasía) se transforma en creación artística. en consecuencia, el arte posee para los dos una función terapéutica. Con la única diferencia de que en Cavafis el hedonismo está totalmente asumido, mientras que en Gil de Biedma encontramos una constante oscilación entre su aceptación y rechazo, y, por consiguiente, un sentimiento de culpa que tortura al sujeto poético hasta el final.

    The greek poet Constantinos Cavafis (1863-1933) and the spanish poet Jaime Gil de Biedma (1929-1990) attempt to exorcise the inexorable passage of time and the desperation for the physical decadence that carries along by means of their art, by poetry. The process is the following: the pleasant experience that belongs to the past revives in present through memory. And that memory, thanks to the essential role that imagination (gr. fantasy) parts, is transformed in artistic creation. en consequence, the art for both poets possesses a therapeutic function. with the only difference that in Cavafis the hedonism is totally accepted, while in Gil de Biedma we find a constant feeling of guilt and regret that tortures the poetic subject until the end.
