Resumen de Los Creoles de la costa Caribe de Nicaragua: entre la subalternidad y la hegemonía

Este artículo versa sobre la etnia creole que habita mayoritariamente la Región Autónoma del Atlántico del Sur en Nicaragua, sus orígenes y la construcción de su identidad, en contraste con las otras comunidades étnicas establecidas en ese mismo territorio. En él se ofrecen algunas ideas generales sobre el estado de marginación cultural que ha sufrido ?la Costa Atlántica? o Caribe de Nicaragua, y posteriormente se presenta un relato del proceso de negociación de la identidad creole y del movimiento pendular entre la subalternidad y la hegemonía llevado a cabo por este grupo, desde su etnogénesis hasta el presente.

This article presents the Creoles that inhabit the South Atlantic Autonomous Region of Nicaragua, their origins and the construction of their identity, in contrast with the other ethnic groups living in this same territory. Firstly, it provides general data about the Atlantic or Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua, following with a description of the process of negotiation of the Creole identity, and their oscillation between subalternity and hegemony, from their ethnogenesis to the present times.
