  • Resumen
    • As part of a physical chemistry course, students complete a 10-h computer course that, in addition to the theory covered in the class, allows kinetics to be explored by hands-on computer work. A majority of these students do not have their own computer and the feedback from the students is that Excel gives them better insight into kinetics rather than simply studying these equations from a textbook. Students also progress at their own rate. The course runs parallel to the theory courses and helps to develop computer skills. At the end of the course, students are examined individually in a 2-h practical examination. A detailed description of the course content and examples of Excel spreadsheet exercises covering kinetics are available in the supporting information.
