Resumen
The objetive of this study was to determine whether 14 day calf removal (C.R.) and/or bull exposure (B.E.) could affect reproductive perfomance and weaning weight. Ninety one Hereford multiparous cows over two years were allotted to four treatments when they were of 50 days postpartum at least. A vasectomized bull was introduced to the B.E. and C.R. groups until the natural service started. Different cow fertility parameters were analyzed: pregnancy rate and days between january 1º to next calving. In order to appreciate the effect of C.R. between treated and control calves weaning weight was analyzed. Significant differences were found in one year. As concluded, B.E.C.R. had no contraindications and could improve the reproductive perfomance affecting the weaning weight when pasture is not available.
