The effect of breed (Corriedale and Merino) on the performance of ewes and lambs mating in april and grazing nature pature over the most part of the experimental period, was studied during two years in Dr. Mario A. Cassinoni Research Centre (Paysandú, Uruguay). Data of liveweights, body conditions, greasy fleece weights and greasy wool produced per unit of metabolic weight of 289 hogget and ewes Corriedale and Merino, respectively, were analyzed by lineal models. Data of number of lambs borned per ewe joined and number of marked lambs per ewe joined were analyzed in lambs. Under experimental conditions, results suggest that the choice of the breed is one of secondary importance.
