Resumen de Divulgação da cultura científica através da teoria da evolução biológica

This article discusses the potential and use of biological evolutionary theory during activities aimed at sharing scientific information in Basic Education. In 2011, an outreach project was carried out based on the combining of teaching, research and outreach projects. The teaching component was implemented by means of discussions with students from the Biological Sciences undergraduate course and Basic Education students about the concepts that support biological evolutionary theory.
The research component comprised of the study of pedagogical strategies and the difficulties presented by Basic Education teachers when they had to teach theory. The research component was also based on interests/motivations and the acceptance of the evolutionary theory by High School students. The outreach component was developed through scientific fairs in public schools. The results demonstrate that initiatives that promote the sharing of scientific information and a closer relationship between universities and schools had important implications for the advancement of scientific education, especially in aspects related to evolutionary thinking and to the understanding of the dynamics of the living world.

Neste trabalho, é discutido o potencial e uso da teoria da evolução biológica ao se desenvolverem ações de divulgação científica na Educação básica. No ano de 2011, foi conduzido um projeto de extensão a partir da articulação entre ensino, pesquisa e extensão. O Ensino foi desenvolvido através de discussões com os estudantes de Ciências Biológicas e da Educação básica sobre os conceitos da teoria da evolução biológica; a Pesquisa a partir do estudo das estratégias pedagógicas e dificuldades apresentadas pelos professores da Educação básica, ao ensinar a teoria, bem como interesses/motivações e a aceitação da evolução biológica por estudantes do Ensino Médio; e a Extensão através da promoção de mostras científicas em escolas públicas. Os resultados encontrados apontam que iniciativas de comunicação científica e a relação mais estreita entre a Universidade e a Escola tiveram implicações importantes para a melhoria da educação científica, no que diz respeito ao pensamento evolutivo e à compreensão da dinâmica do mundo vivo.
