  • The International Year of Chemistry 2011, a UN-designated, yearlong event, presents chemists, chemical engineers, and chemistry enthusiasts with a unique opportunity to communicate and celebrate the transforming power of chemistry. Under the leadership of IUPAC and UNESCO, chemical societies, organizations, and institutions of learning worldwide are planning and implementing a variety of activities to recognize and highlight chemistry and its contributions. The American Chemical Society will coordinate IYC-related programming that includes opportunities to engage the general public and K−12 students in experiences that will capture their interest in chemistry and provide pathways to further learning.
