Resumen de Firms call competition into play

Catrin Griffiths

  • Competition partners don't tend to hit the headlines, but Paula Riedel's departure from Linklaters to Kirkland & Ellis last week generated considerable reader interest.

It was not a lone move in this sector last week; just two days earlier, we reported that Andrea Gomes da Silva left Freshfields for the CMA. And earlier in the year, we saw former Clifford Chance competition partner Sonya Branch become general counsel of the Bank of England - via stints at the OFT and the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).

Under former Slaughter and May partner Sarah Cardell the CMA has been beefing up its legal team, which now numbers around 70 - and in an interview with The Lawyer earlier this year, she was under no illusions that the regulators could be an appealing revolving door in career terms.
