  • The first international standard on records management, ISO 15489, was issued in 2001, followed in 2006/2007 by standards on Metadata for Records, ISO 23081. This entry outlines the history of the development of these standards and provides an overview of their contents. The impact of the records management standards is discussed followed by an assessment of the strategic uses of such standardization work
