  • The article discusses the national housing shortage in Mexico, and initiatives led by Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto to boost the housing and construction industry since the 2010 bursting of a housing bubble. Topics include statistics on the number of jobs created, homes built, and on the size of the housing deficit; the impact of declining global oil prices on government funding and public spending; and special housing diversification programs aimed at lowering social and economic inequality developed by the Mexican Ministry of Agriculture, Territorial and Urban Development (SEDATU).
