  • The article discusses the use of and potential for drone technology in the private sector in the U.S., focusing on the obstacle presented by U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rules on drone use. Topics include drone technology development affecting the cost, safety and complexity as well as operational software; drone applications involving inspection and delivery systems; and statistics on the forecasted size of the drone industry. A discussion of the impact of the 2012 U.S. FAA Modernization & Reform Act is included.
