The article suggests the potential of the real estate investment trust (REIT) listing on the Nasdaq Dubai stock exchange to boost the economy of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). It refers to the presence of three exchanges in the UAE as a factor that inhibits the growth of the bourse. A comparison of the regulatory framework set by Nasdaq Dubai with other exchanges in the region is presented. The role of local companies in the success of Nasdaq Dubai is noted.
