  • The article suggests the feasibility for local banks in Russia to take over the market as international banks are prohibited from engaging with local banks in the country as part of economic penalties and sanctions for its actions in Crimea. A background on the similar changes that happened in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) triggered by the 2008 financial crisis is presented. Outlook states the trend in the rise of local banks with the availability of liquidity and the upcoming elections.
