  • The article discusses the structural issues relating to the onshore and offshore debt capital markets of China that must be addressed by the Chinese government as it shifts towards a more market-focused approach. Recommendations to improve China's onshore and offshore market are outlined. These include development of credit enhancement structures such as keepwell deeds and standby letters of credit, introduction of cross default covenants, and market expansion.
