The article reports on the ruling of the European Court of Justice (ECJ) to reject the lawsuit filed by the British government challenging the proposed European Union (EU) Financial Transaction Tax (FTT). According to the lawsuit, the proposed FTT is an unlawful use of the so-called EU enhanced cooperation procedure. The provisions of the tax via enhanced cooperation introduced by an 11-country bloc are stated. Also discussed is the extraterritorial effect of the proposed FTT.
