    La salud perinatal es una parte de la salud reproductiva que favorece la maternidad saludable y sin riesgo, por medio de estrategias para disminuir la morbilidad y mortalidad. Se describe la experiencia de la mujer en su etapa reproductiva y la influencia en la salud perinatal. Este estudio es de naturaleza cualitativa y exploratoria y fue desarrollado con siete mujeres. Los datos se obtuvieron por medio de la entrevista semiestructurada y observación participante. Los resultadosresaltaron las creencias y costumbres durante el embarazo, parto y posparto. El conocimiento adquirido en ese contexto cultural de manera cotidiana promueve el bienestar de la familia y la capacidad de la mujer para autocuidarse.

    Perinatal welfare is one ofthe elements in reproductive health thatpromotes a healthy maternity without anyrisks through the use of strategies to reducecases of death. This study aims to describewomen’s experience in their reproductivephase and the influence on perinatal welfareof an Indigenous community in the stateof Guerrero. It is a qualitative –exploratorystudy, carried out in seven native women. Thedata were obtained through a semi structuredinterview and participant observation. Theresults show the importance of beliefs andcustoms during pregnancy, delivery andpostpartum. These customs influence womento take care of their health and give themstronghold for their own growth, developmentand survival. This cultural knowledgepromotes welfare in the family and in women’scapacity for self care.
