J.K. Rowlings Harry Potter series posits a posthumanist paradigm through Harrys numerous encounters with creatures like werewolves and merpeople that defy species boundaries and especially through Harrys own experiences with animal embodiment. When Harrys body and subjectivity undergo animal metamorphoses, his ontological identity becomes increasingly unstable. Rowlings novels urge the reader to reconsider the social ordering between human and nonhuman animals within the series and the real world.
