     O presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar o ressurgimento da brincadeira do entrudo no carnaval da capital da Província do Rio Grande, a partir da década de setenta do século XIX. Far-se-á uma breve exposição do que era o entrudo, como este chegou ao Brasil e a Porto Alegre e como era brincado. Abordaremos o renascer do jogo (levado a cabo pelas mãos de uma mulher) e as séries de polêmicas que isto promoveu no seio da sociedade e da imprensa porto-alegrense: desde os limites da brincadeira, os motivos pelos quais ele era condenado, especialmente os que eram relacionados às mulheres, até questões de cunho político, social e de costumes.

     This article aims to analyze the resurgence of the entrudo in the carnival of the capital of the Rio Grande’s Province from the seventy decade of the nineteenth century. We will make a brief presentation of what was the entrudo, as this came to Brazil and Porto Alegre and as it was played.We speak about renaissance of the game (carried out by the hands of a woman) and the series of controversies that promoted within society and the press of Porto Alegre: from the limits of the game, the grounds on which he was convicted, particularly those which were related to women, to political, social and customs issues.
