    Robert Lucas es el economista cuyo trabajo ha tenido el mayor impacto sobre el desarrollo de la macroeconomía en el presente siglo. Su contribución a la macroeconomía se concentra en tres temas particulares: la aplicación de la hipótesis de las expectativas racionales, el surgimiento de una teoría de equilibrio de los ciclos económicos y la evaluación econométrica de las políticas económicas. Lucas también ha realizado importantes contribuciones en otros campos de la teoría económica como las finanzas y la teoría del crecimiento económico.

    Robert Lucas is the economist whose work has had the greatest impact on the development of macroeconomics in the present century. His contribution to macroeconomics is concentrated in three particular topics: the application of the rational expectations hypothesis, the emergence of an equilibrium theory of business cycles, and the econometric evaluation of economic policy. Lucas has also made major contributions to several other fields of economics such as finance and the theory of economic growth.
