Una descripción biológica no alcanza a colmar la definición del niño, solo brinda una aproximación un tanto reduccionista. La connotación de lo humano evoca un habitante no-natural, sino un ser que habita en el lenguaje. En el ámbito del lenguaje el ser no está sino como una representación, como un significante; entendiendo el significante como aquello que representa a un sujeto ($) para otro significante (A). El sujeto ($) se distingue del individuo orgánico de donde ha surgido por una operación simbólica que lo sustrae de aquella dimensión de goce donde se origino. La división subjetiva solo se produce por el trauma que implica hablar; esto lo distingue de otros seres vivientes, desligándolo del orden instintivo.

A biological description is not enough to bridge the definition of child, it only provides a somewhat reductionist approach. The connotation of the human evokes a non-natural inhabitant, but a being that lives in language. In the field of language the being is just a representation, as a signifier; understanding the signifier as that which represents a subject ($) for another signifier (A). The subject ($) is distinguished from the organic individual that has flourished by a symbolic operation that subtract him/her from the dimension of enjoyment where they originated. The subjective division can only be caused by the trauma that involves talking, that distinguishes it from other living beings, separating it from the instinctive order.
