    The aims of this paper is show the importance of the relationships between changes in the coastline of the current territory of the Algarve and the human communities that occupied the same territory during the Paleolithic and Mesolithic, using a geographic information system (GIS) to better understand the size and spatial distribution of archaeological sites.

    O objectivo deste trabalho é mostrar a importância das relações existentes entre as alterações da linha de costa do actual território do Algarve e as comunidades humanas que ocupavam o mesmo território durante o Paleolítico e o Mesolítico, utilizando para tal um sistema de informação geográfico (SIG) de forma a melhor compreender a dimensão e a distribuição espacial dos sítios arqueológicos.

    Els objectius d'aquest treball són mostrar la importància de les relacions entre els canvis a la costa de l'actual territori d'Algarve i les comunitats humanes que ocuparen la mateixa zona durant el Paleolític i Mesolític, utilitzant un SIG per entendre millor la mida i la distribució espacial dels llocs arqueològics.
