Verdaguer was an influential lawyer and a journalist who had an important role between the old romantic and literacy catalan movement and a new politically-implicated generation. He was also the director of the very remarkable Catalanist review La Veu de Catalunya. During the last decade of the nineteenth century, Verdaguer connected the nationalistic movement with other spheres of influence in Barcelona.
