  • The previous article in the series explained how to design masonry for vertical actions1. This month, the design for horizontal actions, fi re and materials is considered, along with simplifi ed methods of design. Throughout this article the Nationally Determined Parameters (NDPs) from the UK National Annexes (NAs) have been used. These enable Eurocode 6 (BS EN 1996-1-1)2 to be applied in the UK.
