  El dolor es una experiencia sensorial y emocional desagradable que se asocia a algún tipo de lesión (echo que no deja de ser paradójico, ya que es una respuesta ante una estimulación dañina). Es un dato totalmente subjetivo, valorable y a tener muy en cuenta por parte de cada individuo, ya que suele avisar de un estado anormal que está padeciendo el sujeto. Este indicativo se va a disparar y nos va poner en alerta en diferentes periodos dependiendo del umbral del dolor que tenga cada uno. El umbral del dolor se define como la intensidad mínima a partir de la cual un estímulo se considera doloroso. No hay que confundirlo con la tolerancia al dolor, que es la intensidad máxima de dolor que somos capaces de soportar. Ninguno de los dos indicativos, aunque en este caso nos centraremos en el umbral del dolor, son constantes en todos los sujetos ni a lo largo de la vida, sino que, como han confirmado diversos estudios, se ven influenciados por la genética, factores sociales y emocionales, entre otros.

  It is known that pain is a disagreeable sensory and emotional experience that is associated with some type of injury (I begin paradoxically, since it is a response before a harmful stimulation). It is totally subjective, assessable information and borne in mind by every individual, since it is normally a warning of an abnormal condition that it is going to affect the subject.

  This indication is set off and alerts us at various times, depending on the threshold of the pain that has each of us has.

  The threshold of pain is defined as the minimal intensity from which a stimulus is considered to be painful. It should not be confused with the tolerance to pain that is the maximum intensity of pain that we are capable of enduring. Neither of these indications, though in this case we will focus on the threshold of pain, are constant in all subjects throughout our life, but diverse studies have confirmed it is going to be influenced by genetics and social and emotional factors, amongst others.
