  • Resumen
    • This paper deals with sorne Andean-Amazon plants with immunomodulating effects, such as Anthodiscus pilosus, Mikania cordifolia , Croton lechleri , Maytenus laevis, Uncaria tomentosa and Phyllanthus niruri, which were originally used by ancient Peruvians. However, their use has been adjusted to make it consistent with current medical practices and requirements, and have preved to be clinically efficient from a therapeutic standpoint. The use of these plants for therapeutic purposes is to be supplemented with a balanced diet that basically avoids red meat, fritters, excessively refined food and chemical additives in general, with special emphasis on the intake of food rich in fiber, proteins with a high biological value, and oleaginous elements. According to IPIFA's observations, with this type of food, which is both therapeutical and source of energy, very sick patients maintain a satisfactory nutritional condition and respond favorably to the immunomodulating phytotherapy.
